Sisterly concern

Ryan has been sick lately. We cannot figure out what is going on. Everything started back at my brothers wedding when he had about 20 too many cherry tomatoes. Two weeks later he was sick again and then Friday he got sick again and is still not feeling well. The doctor sent us to have some blood work done and another test and so we are waiting on the outcome of those tests. Prayerfully we will have some answers Tuesday or Wednesday.

Ryan has pretty much been lying around and hasn't wanted much to eat. Tonight he was lying on the floor and actually asked to go to bed ... Kennedy crawled over with her baby and laid her head on his back and just patted him. SO STINKIN CUTE! This girl loves her brothers as much as they love her! If my body could handle another pregnancy I'd have more .... Just love the bond that is between them!

Boo-boo

Kennedy got her first brother assisted boo-boo this week. While I am cooking dinner at night I gate up the kitchen so Kennedy cannot get in. It makes things so much easier for the cooking process. The other day we had the gate up, Ryan and Pace were playing near it and pushed it over on top of Kennedy. She got a pretty minor cut/scrape around her eye. I'm sure it will be the first of many brother assisted boo-boo's. It wasn't very bad but it could have been so much worse. It barely missed her eye. Thank you Lord for protecting my baby!

Siblings

I just love the bond that is forming between all 3 of my kids. The boys both love to be near Kennedy when she is awake and they love to show her how much they love her. She will pull their faces towards her and give them both big, fat, wet, sloppy kisses. It is the cutest thing. If they are not looking at her she will move their faces towards her, but only when she is wanting kisses. If she isn't wanting it ... don't even think about trying to kiss her because she will not have anything to do with it. It is really quite a comedy. This girl has all of us wrapped tightly around her finger. I can only imagine what the years ahead will hold ....

Ryan sings

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I really think my son thinks our old worship leader is his hero! Since we are in transition right now we have been doing internet church on Sunday mornings (poolside I might add - it's nice). The boys like to sing along to the worship sets with us and they love Mr. Gompers! Ryan wants to be just like him and he also wants to marry his daughter ... after he found out that his other girlfriend was already married :) so Mr. Gompers you are looked up to!

Sassy Mouths

I was just waiting on the day to come, And I KNEW it was coming. I was not naive enough to think it would skip my household. (Because it didn't skip the household I came from) My sons have sassy mouths - specifically my oldest. He NEEDS to have the last word when it comes to an argument with his brother or in conversation with us. Each request of him is not answered with yes ma'am or no sir ... it is followed by a but and a long soliloquy on why we must see things his way. (I was once this way and oh am I reaping what I sowed and I pray I don't reap more than I sowed) We are working hard on these sassy mouths. One is wising up and flying straight .... the other thinks that we will allow this to continue. He is so wrong, so wrong.

So my question is how do YOU deal with a sassy mouth? I need some fresh ideas. (I must say that he is not always this way.) How do you deal with brothers who go "yes I am, no you aren't, yes I am, no you aren't" ... you get the picture. Time out just isn't doing the trick anymore .... help a mother out, please. :)

one of those days ...

It is just one of those days. Honestly, it's just been one of those weeks. Living in transition is hard. It's hard on the boys which makes it hard on us as well. I can't count the number of times I've been asked for this toy or that toy ... they are boxed up and they cannot understand that. It's been raining a lot here as well ... so much that I've wondered if we secretly moved to Seattle or not.

I've been reading a great book called "The Bathtub is Overflowing but I feel Drained" By Lysa TerKeurst. I read a quote that I'll leave you with today ... Sorry this post is so short but it's just been one of those days and it's only 9:30 in the MORNING!

My Family will be my greatest legacy. More than the things I accomplish. More than the home I make warm and lovely. More than the people's lives I impact. More than anything else I am known for. If I fulfill the the calling of being a godly wife and mother, then I will be satisfied!

finally!

After 2 1/2 weeks of Ryan being sick we finally seem to have gotten an answer. It all began at my brothers wedding when he decided to down about 25 cherry tomatoes. The acid didn't agree with his tummy and he woke up the next morning sick, sick, sick! He was able to pull it together for the wedding and did a fabulous job of being a ring bearer. Shortly after the wedding he was begging to go back to the hotel room and so we skipped out of the reception to put my boy to bed. 2 hours later he wakes up sick, sick, sick again. He did better the Sunday drive back home. Though he never was really himself. Fast forward to last Thursday when he wakes up sick again. We took him to a DR and she wrongly diagnosed him with Strep throat. We wound up in the ER that night with him thinking he was dehydrated ... he was not. He is still sick today and we were really worried about him. We were referred to another pediatrician by some friends of Jeremy's parents and this one was MUCH better. He actually listened to us and was very patient with us as we recounted this story to him. He diagnosed him with gastroenteritis and prescribed him a medication. He said that the tomatoes most likely did him in. He should be better by the weekend and we are so hoping that is the case. If not he has a follow up appointment next Wednesday where we can have him checked out further if we need to. Prayerfully we will not need to.

So if you are wondering where we have been and why the blog has been so quiet ... it's because we have been with a sick child who is normally never sick. He's been a trooper through the whole ordeal!

Ryan we love you so much and are praying so hard that you are 100% better SOON!

what a day!

It has been a crazy 36 hours for our family! Ryan woke up yesterday morning sick and it continued all day. We took him to a pediatrician and got a wrong diagnosis. So frustrating. Wound up having to go to the ER with him last night and spent 6 1/2 hours there. Awesome! He is doing better this morning and loving the prescribed Popsicle every 30 minutes :)

And just as an aside Kennedy decided to eat some of Nikki's food (Jeremy's parents dog). So then she decides to spit up a ton (multiple times) because of us putting our finger in her mouth to get all the food out. Don't know where she was stashing it but the food just kept coming!

Oh the joys of life with children! Wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! Hope your day is going much better!

House hunting

We are in the official mode of looking for a home. Yesterday, Jeremy's mom and I went to look at a house we thought would be "the one" ... it was not. However, we did find a home that we liked and after talking through it with Jeremy on the phone, we made an offer. We found out some other offers have also been made on this home so we will just have to wait and see where we land in the pile of offers. Hopefully, ours will be the best and we will be able to call this house home one day.

House hunting is hard work though ... as you can tell from Kennedy's picture ... she was quite tuckered out :)
