6 month checkup

Today we took Kennedy in for her 6 month check up! She is doing well considering her bowel issues. Hopefully that will not linger much longer :) She's really going to love me one day when she's old enough to read back through the blog book I'll make ... I'm sure I'll get a "MOM!" when she knows I've talked as much as we have about her issues :)

She was a champ today. She got 3 shots and as luck would have it she fell asleep right before they got to the shot part. Woke her right up but she quickly calmed down.

She's is looking like she might be on the petite side. I hope that she continues to have her daddy's metabolism!

She is in the 30% for height as crazy as that seems considering her daddy is 6' 4"! She was in the 25% at 14 pounds 9 ounces.

We are really trying to get her to eat. She's not so fond of oatmeal and we just started trying veggies. She likes peas but still will not eat very much. I wouldn't either if my brothers stood around me and said "yucky" as I was eating! She's still spiting up all the time. We were trying to wean her off her reflux meds but her doctor told us to put her back on it ... could be the reason she's not eating for us ... due to a burning throat. We will see.

I'll put her stats up against the boys ... this is more for me than anyone else. One day I'll have this ole blog printed into a book (thanks Nicole) and I'll be able to remember the tiny peanuts that they all were :)

Today's doctor visit

We have answers!!! I'm so excited that she was able to figure out what was wrong and hopefully by Monday all will be right in her little world.

Kennedy has what is called rectal stenosis. Basically she needs to be stretched so she can have a BM. The doctor was able to stimulate her today so that she had more than I've been able to get through stimulation at home. We will have an appointment on Monday with a pediatric gastro dr and he will dilate her fully and hopefully it will be a one and done type procedure.

Kennedy's doctor said that she has been refusing to eat due to being so backed up. She did eat normally when we got home from the doctor today. Hopefully, we can stimulate her enough through the weekend so that she will continue to eat until the other doctor can see her on Monday.

Thanks for all your prayers and pray for us, especially her, on Monday.

Edited to say that the Dr just called and they cannot get her in to be seen until Wednesday morning. Pray for us until then ... and pray for a cancellation that they can get her in before Wednesday!

I Just finished ...

... Rocking my baby after an hour long process trying to get her to eat. I just can't explain how my heart breaks for her right now. I videoed the experience tonight because we have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning and I wanted her doctor to be able to see what she is doing ... just in case she won't perform there. She has refused every meal today and barely taken anything out of a bottle ... she screams through both. She's constipated and she's spitting up tons. My mind worries that something more may be wrong with my baby.

Sorry the blog has become all about reflux but this is what we are dealing with right now. Thanks for all your prayers and concern!

Thanks!

Thanks for all the prayers! Today she has only skipped half a meal ... much better than the 3 whole meals skipped yesterday. Her doctor called to check on her today and told me that she should be back to normal BM's by the weekend ... here's hoping. If she continues to skip meals after her BM's are back to normal we will change her medication to help the reflux. Little ones just should not have to go through things like this. I'm just praying my supply makes it through this time with her. It didn't with Ryan's reflux.

Edited to say that she did skip her evening meal and boy was it a pain match for her! Oh how I just ache for her and the pain she has when trying to eat!

We need prayer

We need prayer ... it sounds kind of crazy but if you could pray for us and Kennedy's reflux we would appreciate it. Specifically for my supply to not go away and my sanity. Kennedy is refusing to nurse today and eat due to reflux and constipation. My body does not respond well to pumping and so I'm really afraid I'm not going to be able to nurse her much longer ... sounds like a silly thing to pray for but it really is important to me on many levels to be able to nurse her. Thanks!

She's Growing!

Today we had Kennedy's two month appointment and despite the reflux, the spitting up and the missed meals due to reflux ... she is growing. So our pediatrician wasn't as concerned, though she did up her dose of Zantac and gave us a prescription for Prevacid should the new dose of Zantac not work. So we will see if this will help her and keep her out of pain.

Just for fun I have the following #'s for you:

Kennedy @ 2 months :
Weight: 11 Pounds 12 ounces
Height: 24 3/4 inches

Ryan @ 2 months:
Weight: 13 pounds 11 ounces
Height: 25 inches

Pace @ 2 months:
Weight 13 Pounds 11 ounces
Height: 24 inches

2 Months old ...

My baby is two months old ... can anyone tell me where the past 2 months went? How did she get to be so old, so quick? She is still hurting from the reflux ... infact today is a hard day. She has skipped 2 meals today in a row. She finally ate at 12:30 so that was a huge relief. We go to the Dr tomorrow for shots and a check-up ... I have plenty o questions for the DR. She is growing, so her not eating doesn't seem to be really bothering her weight gain ... at least she looks like she is growing ... we will know more tomorrow!

Life in our world

First things first ... Poppa is here to visit ... He came in yesterday and left this morning to go visit his brother who lives near by ... he'll be back tomorrow and the boys will be thrilled. They were none to happy to wake up to him not being here this morning.

Life as we knew it has certainly changed ... for the better of course but it sure is hard right now. Poor baby girl is in so much pain and is needing much more of my attention than I have to give at times. The two boys are troopers through all this with Kennedy and kiss and pray for her often. I wish there was something I could do to help her and take away the pain ... the smiles are rare, though I did happen to catch one during one of her happy wake times. We have finally gotten her to take her medicine ... she is on Zantac twice a day and we are hoping this will do the trick ... if not we will move on to prevacid.

So keep on praying for our precious one and that this reflux would stop hurting her. It is a bit overwhelming for this mom and I've been through this before with Ryan. Even still it feels as though I've never dealt with it before. Ryan would be miserable but he would eat ... if you know my son you know that he has never refused a meal in his life and is always wanting more ... always. Kennedy is having more trouble eating through the pain and that breaks this momma's heart. I know she is hungry yet she is in so much pain at the same time ... it is hard to watch your baby hurt. Thankfully, she doesn't do this at every feed so we aren't worried about her weight gain at this point and she doesn't spit as much as Ryan did ... however, if this goes anything like Ryan's reflux did we know we are in the early stages of this journey. I just pray that we can keep her pain free as much as possible.

Reflux!

I hate reflux! Ryan had it and hurt with it for almost 6 months ... he spit up until he was well over 18 months ...

Kennedy has it as well and it's not pretty. The pain is horrible for her and brings me to tears as well. Last night was the worst night by far. I was trying to nurse her at 7 last night and she would nurse for about 15 seconds then scream for about 5 minutes. This process repeated for what seemed like an eternity ... we were both crying through the process and I'm not sure how much she had to eat. My tears were because she was hurting so badly and there was nothing I could do to help her. Her cry was unlike any other cry I have ever experienced in one so small ... normally cries are just to be held or have a diaper changed. They aren't piercing and they stop rather quickly once being held ... not so with this cry last night ... It was hard my friends, hard!

Pray for her and that the pain associated with the reflux will go away. It is sooooo hard to see your precious one in pain and not be able to take that pain on yourself. I would take that pain from her in a heartbeat if I could. Pray also that my supply would not go away during this time ... it did with Ryan and eventually I had to quit nursing him because of no supply. Reflux babies are hard to nurse ... I really want to nurse her and not have to go to formula so my prayer is that the pain will go away and that I'll be able to continue nursing her ...

Thanks friends!

Found & Kennedy update

Pace's lovie dog was found! I guess his dog decided he needed to be washed ... it was in the bottom of our dirty clothes hamper! Pace was SOOOO overjoyed to have his lovie back and so are the rest of us! :)

I took Kennedy to the DR today. She has been having breathing issues and a few other things I wanted to ask about. She has reflux like Ryan did and has been put on Zantac. Here's hoping it helps. Her doctor seems to think that this will help with her not wanting to go back to sleep in the middle of the night ... we are hoping so. It was a challenge to get her to take the medicine tonight but we finally got it in.

They did a jaundice test on her again today as her eyes are still a little yellow. The doc thinks it is just breast milk jaundice but did a blood draw to test her liver to be sure. She's growing like a weed so that was good news! We will know more on Friday.
