ALL?

Noah did according to all that the LORD had commanded him.

I think of this one 3 letter word … ALL … he did it ALL. Not some but all. I wonder what it must have been like to do it all? To a man 600 years old who had not seen a rain like what was coming, to build an ark to the very detail that God gave to him. With all the ridicule he must have gotten to not cave, not quit, not give in, or to only do just enough to squeak by but to do it all. Do I do ALL that God asks me no matter what is going on around me or what my logical/analytical mind may put into play?

Thoughts & Ponderings

I'm attempting to read the Bible through this year. I've attempted this before and was able to accomplish it before kids. We will see how I do this year with two rambunctious ones and one on the way. You can hold me accountable if you feel led :)

Today I was reading in Genesis ... these verses really stuck out to me ... these are found in chapter 6 .... 5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 The LORD said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them." 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes the LORD.

I got to thinking about these verses. Yes, they are not new but my eyes saw them differently today. I cannot imagine what it must have been like for the one who created it all to look down and find that EVERY intent of his creation was evil. For the creator of the universe to be grieved over his own creation, to be sorry he ever made them. So sorry that he wants to blot them out. How sad he must have been.

Then I think of Noah and my heart leaps. How his heart must have leap when he thought of Noah, the one who found favor with him. I asked myself several questions this morning ...
  • Would I be found in favor had I lived then?
  • Would I have just gone with the flow and my every thought been an evil one?
  • Would I have stood out to my creator or would I have just fit in?
  • Will I stand out now or just fit in?
  • Will I now be found in favor?

So if you'd like to join the journey it's only day 2 and you aren't far behind. I'm praying for fresh eyes as I take this journey. That God would show me things I haven't seen yet and that he would prick and prod me where needed. I pray that my eyes see, ears listen and a heart that obeys.
