Haiti

My heart hurts for those in Haiti. The destruction that this country is facing is huge ... times like this make me wish that we had an infinite amount of cash on hand to be able to help. We can all give what we can though. There are several places where you can donate and know that your funds are going directly to help these people ....

Compassion International
Red Cross

I have some bloggy friends that I have met through this blog who are adopting children from Haiti. Their hearts are HUGE for Haiti and they are selling t-shrits to help send aid to Haiti. They have ties to two rescue centers where 100% of the profits from the shirts will go. You may have even seen them talking about them today on CNN. If you would like ot buy a t-shirt go here.

If you are looking for an easy way to donate you can text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross relief for Haiti. The $10.00 will be billed to your cell phone bill. If most Americans donated just
...$10, can you imagine the impact we could have in helping the people of Haiti.

WE can be the Hands & Feet of Jesus ... so let's do it! Give what you can and Pray. Lots of people turn to prayer as the LAST thing when it should be the FIRST thing. Give what you can, where you feel led but most of all PRAY for these people.

I NEED AFRICA MORE THAN AFRICA NEEDS ME

I posted last monday about why I need Africa more than Africa needs me. Now hear from one of the guy behind Mocha club ...

When I think of Africa, the following images immediately come to mind: Starvation. AIDS. Child soldiers. Genocide. Sex slaves. Orphans. From there, my thoughts naturally turn to how I can help, how I can make a difference. “I am needed here,” I think. “They have so little, and I have so much.” It’s true, there are great tragedies playing out in Africa everyday. There is often a level of suffering here that is unimaginable until you have seen it, and even then it is difficult to believe. But what is even harder is reconciling the challenges that many Africans face with the joy I see in the people. It’s a joy that comes from somewhere I cannot fathom, not within the framework that has been my life to this day. Read More

I need Africa

I was asked by Mocha Club to write about the concept of why ‘I need Africa more than Africa needs me.’ Mocha Club is a community-based website where members can start a team and invite friends to join them in giving $7 a month – the cost of 2 mocha's – to support a project in Africa. Mocha Club's vision is to provide a way for people who don't have hundreds or thousands of dollars to make a difference in Africa.”

Why Do I need Africa?

I need Africa to show me what heaven will be like with many faces, nations, tribes and tongues who will gather to worship our creator with one voice!

I need Africa to remind me of how much I have to be thankful for.

I need Africa because Africa matters to God!

I need Africa ... do you? Share your thoughts in my comments, and even blog about it yourself. Join in the worthwhile cause of recasting the damaging images that force pity over partnership. Come back Dec 1st to see what Mocha Club is doing about reforming that image.

Need a new pair of shoes?

Then go here and get a pair for yourself or someone you love. For every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS will give one pair to a child in need in another country. One for one. I plan on getting Kennedy a pair as they are so cute! What could be better than helping a child who does not have a pair of shoes and it is sooooo easy to do ... we all buy shoes at one time or another so why not buy from a guy who is doing something to help others as well?
