Zoe Update

I have gotten several messages asking how Zoe is doing. She is doing wonderful! We brought her home last Sunday afternoon after spending two nights with the vet. They told us that they did not expect for her to make it. And then they told us they expected her to relapse once she got home. She has done neither!

When we first brought her home she was very weak and didn't do much. As the week has gone by she has gotten her strength and playfulness back.

She is blind now, but she seems to be adjusting very well to that. She has even been going up and down our stairs own her own. It freaked me out the first time she did it and we thought about putting up a gate. But after watching her the last couple days, she really doesn't need it. It's amazing how she knows right where they are and exactly how many there are. She's a pro!

It's so good having our baby back. It was heartbreaking seeing her so sick and thinking about the possibility of not having her around anymore was devastating. We are so thankful to have her home! Thanks to all of you who prayed for our 4 legged baby!

Hard days

It has been a hard few days here in our family. Our dog Zoe, got very sick on Thursday and Friday was basically lifeless. We rushed her to the vet and they didn't give us a very good prognosis. The odds were definitely stacked against her. It was oh so sad to see my baby so still and unable to move.

The prognosis is still up in the air and really the odds are still against her. We were able to go see her yesterday and thought we might be able to bring her home but it was better for her to stay where she was rather than coming home. She is now blind due to either a stroke or the high amounts of fluid that they had to pump into her due to the hydration.

She has a condition called hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. It hit her hard and fast and has been overwhelming to us. We just can't imagine loosing a pet.

In the midst of all of this my in-loves are dealing with a battle of their own. Jeremy's grandmothers husband is in bad condition and will probably meet his Savior very soon. So our little troubles with our dog really pale in comparison to what others are dealing with. But we love our 4 legged child and pray that she can come home today and that being blind will be the only thing she has to deal with.

Zoe & Kennedy

Kennedy has a love hate relationship with our dog Zoe. She is actually, most of the time, scared to death of Zoe. Now, you have to know that Zoe is the most laid back dog ever. She is a little hyper when new people are around but for the most part she just lays around.

Now that K can crawl (or scoot), she will make her way over to Zoe and then she will proceed to "talk" to her. This get's Zoe excited that she is going to get some attention so she runs off and gets one of her own toys and comes back with it in her mouth. This will make K shake violently and SCREAM her head off. Poor Zoe doesn't know what to do and Kennedy remains scared of her. This cycle repeats itself often.

We don't know what to do about it either. K acts like she doesn't even care about our dog but the minute that Zoe moves or trys to play it scares Kennedy something fierce. Any suggestions you have are welcome!

Huge Scare!

Last night we had a HUGE scare b/c of our dog Zoe! Somehow she managed to get out of the house and we didn't realize it. We did Christmas with my in-loves, then headed out to dinner. We came home and my normal hyper dog was not waiting on us at the door when we got back. So, I called out for her and she didn't come. I knew then she was not in the house. We started searching the neighborhood and yelling her name. People thought we were crazy! By this time, we assume she had been out for at least 3 hours. We had no idea where she could be. My mother-in-love bathed my boys and I helped her get them in PJ's and in bed while Jeremy and my Father-in-love were still out looking for our dog. After getting the boys in bed my Mother-in-love joined in on the search. We all had to finally stop looking as it was rather late by this point. As soon as everyone got in, our phone rang and it was someone who had our dog!!!! The guy who found her had used the tag on her collar and called animal control, since we had registered her in our new city, they were able to call us and bring her right over. She was only a few streets over. A man almost hit her with his car (she is only 4 pounds and very low to the ground), thankfully he didn't. He scooped her up and called animal control for us! I was so afraid she was gone forever. So thankful that God answered our prayers, my boys will be so happy to see their Zoe this morning!
