Overextended - A Book Review

It is neat the way God uses things to speak to me. Over the past few weeks God has been speaking very loudly. I agreed to do a review for this book before I left to go to Brazil. I really don't know what I was thinking as I was already knee deep in 2 other books. I am normally a fast reader but these 2 books were really making me stop and think and chew every few pages on the content within. So, this book sat in my bag just waiting on me to read .... Yesterday, I wasn't feeling well so last night I pulled it out and read this book in a couple hours.

It was refreshing and just the icing on the cake to what God had been stirring in me for the past few weeks. It was what he used to propel me further, to show me that I haven't been hearing my own voice but rather his.

I heard Lisa at Women of Faith a month or so ago and when I saw the book I thought it had to be great after hearing her speak. She did not disappoint.

What I love most about the book is her authentic way of sharing her story and loving the reader at the same time. One of the lines in the book says "God can expand our hearts, minds, bodies and calendars to accomodate our calling. Because loving our Redeemer and loving the world around us Really.Is. Worth. It." Then a few pages later which really struck me where I am sitting, she said this, "Part of the blessing is in the stretch itself ... when compassion is coupled with inconvenience, it's sweeter."

Right now in my life I feel overdrawn and overextended. I feel like there is much going on that I am not capable of making my way through. But after reading this I feel encouraged and like I can take the best, next step that God is asking me to take. It won't be in my strength it will be totally and completely because of him! And I am looking forward to taking that next step.

If you need a fun new read, one that will be quick and refreshing, Pick this up and read it. You will be glad you did.

Let Hope In - A book Review

"Hope changes Everything" - the byline on the back of this book. Hope gives life, hope gives life! Hope brings you to a point where you can believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel even when you cannot see it.

I was given this book to review. And I cannot do justice to a book review. This book is amazing. It is a book that I believe will push many forward in their walks where shame and guilt are pulling them down.

If you struggle with shame, with guilt or with wondering if hope exists ... I strongly encourage you to pick up this book and get it and allow God to speak to you through Pete.

My copy is marked up and written in so much that as I was reading it another person came to my mind. I had to go buy another copy so I could give an unmarked copy to this person so that maybe they could allow hope in and walk forward in the freedom that hope provides.

Hope is available to each of us no matter our season or station in life. Give yourself another chance to believe in hope. Get this book and allow God to work on your heart and help move you forward to Let Hope In!
