It Grows back ...

Yesterday, I cut Ryan's hair. I didn't want to. I knew it needed a cut but I didn't want to cut it ALL off. However, he did. He wanted to be able to "spike" it up.

Hair really isn't a battle worth fighting. I've learned that some battles are worth fighting and some are not. I save my energy and power as a mom for the battles that are worth my effort. This one was not. It's his hair so I let him make the choice, as much as it pained me to cut it off.

And much to my dismay, right after we were done cutting it off he said he wanted it long again ... oh well, it will grow back, it's just hair!

He looks a lot younger now, I must say!

It's somewhat quiet

It is somewhat quiet around the house this week. The boys are with their grandparents this week. They are two peas in a pod and honestly, best friends. It's different not having them here.

I say it's somewhat quiet because well, honestly, Kennedy is talking a mile a minute and there cannot be any silence where she is concerned. If she is not talking, she's asleep. She doesn't have her brothers to talk to so I naturally, have taken their place. I love it, don't get me wrong ... but you can only hear some things so much before going bonkers :)

I've said many times this week that having the 3 is much easier than having the 1! :) And I'm not even kidding! We are having some fun girl time but I know that I have my work cut out for me this fall in teaching Kennedy how to play alone for a few minutes at a time.

Well, I've been invited to a tea party with a princess, so I better not hold her up for very long. Have a great day!

Alone

This week I'm alone with my girl! It's just the two of us during the day and daddy at night. The boys are off visiting their grandparents. I began missing them terribly about 5 minutes after they were gone :)

I'm not the only one missing them though! Kennedy misses them like crazy. She doesn't like being the only child at all. Jeremy and I were commenting last night that she doesn't know how to play without her brothers. This morning I tried to take her to the pool before the rain popped in and she threw the biggest fit because the "boyz" were not with us. She kept calling out for Ryan and Pace. We didn't last long because she couldn't handle it without them.

I think it will be a long week with the boys gone. By the time she learns how to cope .... it will be time for them to come home. :)

I'm looking forward to some alone time with her though! Maybe we will go get our toes painted together ... there will definitely be lots of tea parties and dressing up :)

Awesome?

awe*some ... adjective
1. inspiring awe: an awesome sight
2. showing or characterized by awe.
3. Slang . very impressive

Sunday at church our worship pastor led us in "Awesome God" before singing it though he talked about the word Awesome. He talked about how much this word is used when talking about things. Things. We throw this word around too casually he said. Jason went on to tell us how the only one really awesome is our God.

This week, I've been thinking about his words before he led us in this chorus. I, myself, use this world A LOT! I've almost used this word many times in the past 3 days, however, I have caught myself and changed my word choice. Not because it is wrong to use but
I mean seriously, when we are talking about the creator of the universe ... doesn't everything else really pale in comparison? He truly is Awesome! Thanks Jason for the Reminder this week!

Life has been busy!

Life has been incredibly BUSY lately!! So I have declared today a day of rest. I thought we might go to the pool and then go run some errands but I have decided to do neither. My kids need rest, and so do I!

Jeremy has been SO very busy at work. It's a good thing, however, he is working longer hours and is drained when he gets home. After this month is over life will slow down for him. Hopefully, we can get some down time together soon!

Last week, I kept a friends little girl all week who is 16 months old. She is such a sweetie but I got a close sense of what it would be like to have twins. :) It was fun but oh so busy and my evenings were full doing things I normally accomplished during the day. All worth it though to help out a friend.

Then on Friday, we had a family drive in to spend some time with us while they house hunt and get to know the area. It has been great having them with us and we are still enjoying our time with them.

Friday of this week, Jeremy's parents come into town and we will spend a few days with them along with celebrating Fathers day!

Next week is VBS ... this summer is certainly flying by and packed ... So the blog may be a little quiet these days but my life is definitely not! Hope you all are enjoying your summer!

1 Year

1 Year ago we had all our earthly possessions packed into two storage pods. We were moving away from a place we had called home for 2 1/2 years. Here is what my 3 little loves looked like before we moved.

A LOT has happened in our lives in the last year. A LOT. We have moved twice - one temporary and one permanent (we hope) We have walked through some stuff both publicly and privately. It has been a rough year and also a good year. We have said goodbye to some friends, made new friends and re-connected with other friends. We have learned a TON the past year. We have laughed we have cried ... but we have grown. Physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

I look at this picture above and just how little our 3 were .... look how BIG they are now ...

WOW! I look at those contrasting pictures and my heart skips beats ... they are growing faster than I would like. Before long that will be a high school cap and gown on my oldest!

It has been a HARD but a GOOD year. Thank you God for bringing us through all that you have. Continue to protect us and guide us as we go through this next year.
